Royal Rubin

„He is a bit like a diesel engine. It takes a lot of patience to supple him. But then he is very much with it and cooperates.“

Joachim Kemmer bought "Rudi" as a foal directly off the breeder. Afterwards he was raised at Amselhof and at age 2 ½ he had been approved at the Brandenburg approvals and scored an excellent 70-day-test with a dressage index of 132,25 points. The large-framed stallion is very good and easy to handle, without the usual stallion-like manner.

His show career started with success in small dressage classes. In June 2004 he and Heike won the qualifier for the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. Unfortunately this start at the championships had to be cancelled because of the intensive training for Athens. In July at the World Championships for young dressage horses the team came eighth in the group of 6-years-olds.

Constantly his training proceeded. In 2006 he was qualified fort the Nuremberg Burgpokal and gathered some placements in S-level classes. Additionally he started a second career and proved his show talent at various shows including the Equitana 2007. „By these two short performances during the Equitana 2007 Rudi became aquainted quite plyfully with the higher Grand Prix movements. Of course we practised one or the other at home already, but we never joined them to a complete freestyle exercise. I think this is a good chance to impress the movements on the horse. You can improvise a lot and don’t have to do exact lines from point to point” said Heike about her two appearances in Essen. “Rudi was relaxed and had nerves of steel.” During winter 2007/2008 he improved more and more. So Heike was able to compete him on international level.

A special highlight Rudi earned at this years Derby in Hamburg. His rideability and also his charm brought him the title of "Most Successful Derby Horse". With her competitors Isabell Werth and Kristy Oatley Heike started in the Derby with change of horses on Sunday - a rather unique test within the German tournament scene. Every finalist rides not only his own horse but also those of his competitors in an abbreviated Grand Prix. He showed himself at his best and marched through the arena with the greatest of ease with all three riders. „His rideability and his absolutely great character are priceless. If all my horses would be like Rudi – I would be the happiest rider on earth.” Heike said after the Derby.
